Cutie Says: Although I have never been to Cincinnati, I sure like their chili, and so do all the other dollies and their friends. It is a perfect meal to serve to a whole bunch of friends and family. Make sure to serve it with some crusty bread and you favourite wine or beer!!!
Cincinnati Chili
Ingredients
4 tbsp oil 5 ½ pounds lean ground beef 1 28 ounce can of pureed tomatoes 36 ounces of cold water 4 large onions (diced) 3 tbsp white wine vinegar
2 tsp salt 2 tsp Lea & Perrin Worcestershire sauce 6 cloves of garlic (crushed) 1/3 cup of chili powder 5 bay leaves 3 tsp ground cinnamon 2 tsp ground allspice 3 tsp cayenne pepper 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
2 tsp ground cumin
3 tbsp dark molasses
salt & pepper to taste
Instructions In a heavy gauge pot heat oil, add beef and cook until brown, add onions, tomato puree, and cold water and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and add all other ingredients and let simmer 1 ½ to 2 hours. Adjust seasoning with salt & pepper to taste. Remove bay leaves and skim fat from the top before serving.
